Quick Fix: How to Replace the Pump on a Newer Style Coleman Lantern

Replacing the pump

1. Twist the cap to unlock

Use a pair of needle-nose pliers in the notches to twist the pump to unlock.

2. Pull the pump out of the tank

With the pump unlocked you can pull the pump out of the tank.

3. Prime new pump with oil

Take the new pump out of the package and gently rub oil on the rubber end of the pump.

4. Insert new pump into tank

Once the new pump is oiled you can insert it into the lantern tank.  

5. Lock the pump 

Insert the cap into the tank and lock it using needle-nose pliers.

6. Oil the pump stem

Extend the pump stem and apply oil to the entire stem.
