Removed 10" blade with 5/8" arbor and installed new adapter ring then new 12" blade with 1" arbor on to saw. Now the 12" miter saw will have a 12" blade.

Removed motor casing to replace brushes. Before advancing to install new brushes. Cleaned with electric cleaner. After allowing sufficient time to dry. Proceeded to install brushes and replace cover. The other parts are pretty straight forward. Now it's working beautifully.

Removed the saw blade. The blade adapter ring was worn out, off center, and loose around the spindle, causing the blade to be somewhat off balance I'd say. Removed the blade adapter ring, put the new ring in. The snugness or tightness of the ring required the use of a rubber mallet to snug down the new ring. Replaced the blade and put everything back together. Works like a dream. Who knew a worn out washer could make a motor sound like it was dying?

Removed blade and replaced worn blade adapter ring, bushing arbor and outer clamp. With replacing those three parts my miter saw now cuts square and straight.
