This replacement air cleaner element is specially designed for use with small gas powered engines on lawn and garden equipment. It is supplied directly from original equipment manufacturer. Its purpose is to filter out dust and debris from contaminating the carburetor and the engine. This is a pleated paper filter that is sold individually. Please note, the pre-filter is sold separately.
To replace this filter no special tools are needed. Simply remove the cover and replace the filter element.

The lawn mover was for an unknown time outside. The car was completely oxidized and needs to be replaced. I also changed the oil and sharpen the blade.

1. Watched some videos to help diagnose problem (fouled carburetor seemed most likely)
2. Replaced with carb kit rather than try to rebuild/clean existing carb
3. Fuel line disintegrated when removed. Also broke/cracked some linkages during removal, so there was a delay as I needed to order more parts. Also, a couple of stripped screws had to be replaced
4. Completed general cleaning and PM, new plug and air filter
5. Started on the first pull.

Leaking oil around the oil pan gasket.

Watched the YouTube video on replacing the gasket on a Kohler 149cc engine. Followed the steps as suggested. The only problem encountered was that the governor did NOT work after reassembly. Thinking I had omitted a step along the way, I reordered the seal and gasket, took the engine apart again and carefully followed the video reassembly steps. Same result. Unless you only need a minor part, I would NOT suggest taking a Kohler engine apart--a brand new one can be obtained for around $120. Used a wire tie to "hold" the governor at about 3000 RPM and it does run well w/o leaking.

Oil pan gasket was leaking and did some maintenance while it was down

1. Took the engine off the mower deck
2. Remove the blade from the engine
3.Drain the oil from engine
4.Remove the oil pan and clean old gasket off
5.Change old oil seal out of pan
6.Put new gasket on pan and resemble it
7.Reinstall engine to mower deck
8.Install new blade
9.Install new air filter
10.Install new rope
